What Is a Skin Fitness Program and Why Does It Work?

When we think of fitness, we usually imagine a regular gym session, a few days a week, to build strength, endurance, and agility. Similarly, our skin requires consistent, targeted treatments to maintain its health and vitality. MDS’s Skin Fitness Program is a curated set of treatments designed to address a wide range of skin concerns—from acne and rosacea to dry skin and the visible signs of aging. Think of it as a personalized, long-term skincare plan, but one that works harder and smarter to keep your skin in its best shape.

We offer 3 Skin Fitness Programs that are customized to your skin’s needs:

Unlike one-off treatments, the Skin Fitness Programs emphasize a multi-pronged approach to skin health. Combining advanced cosmetic dermatology with a holistic treatment philosophy, they work to tackle the root causes of skin issues and keep your complexion in top form. The programs are designed not only to treat existing concerns but also to prevent future problems, so you can enjoy smooth, glowing, and youthful skin year-round.
Individual appointments for our Skin Fitness Services are always available to our patients, while our Skin Fitness Programs are a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for patients who are committed to long term skin wellness.

What Do Skin Fitness Programs Treat?

Whether you’re dealing with acne, dryness, rosacea, or signs of aging, our Skin Fitness Program is designed to treat a variety of common skin concerns. Here’s a breakdown of what the program targets and how it can benefit you:

Acne Program – A Clear Path to Glowing Skin

Acne is one of the most common skin issues, and it can have a significant impact on your confidence and overall skin health. Whether you’re struggling with persistent breakouts or simply want to keep your complexion clear, our Acne Skin Fitness Program is a customized solution. This program is suitable for anyone suffering from active acne, no matter what stage you are in. Patients with early signs of acne, patients currently being treated with acne medications, or those looking to maintain clear skin after acne treatment are all good candidates for this program. Best of all, it requires no downtime, so you can maintain your busy lifestyle.

Acne Skin Fit Program Series Options

Our acne facial treatments include a combination of:

  • Deep pore cleansing
  • Extractions of blackheads and whiteheads
  • Broadband light treatment (BBL) to combat inflammation
  • Superficial chemical peels for exfoliation
  • Diamond Glow microdermabrasion for exfoliation

Rejuvenation Program – Targeted Treatments for Special Concerns

Dry Skin: Hydration That Lasts

Cold, dry weather, heated interiors, and certain skincare habits can leave your skin feeling dehydrated and lackluster. The Rejuvenation Skin Fitness Program targets this concern by using treatments designed to replenish your skin’s moisture levels and restore balance. Whether you have chronically dry skin or your skin becomes more sensitive in the winter months, this program will give your skin the hydration boost it needs to feel smooth, plump, and rejuvenated.

Rosacea, Problematic, and Sensitive Skin: Soothe and Calm

For those with rosacea or highly sensitive skin, everyday skincare can feel like a battle. Our Rejuvenation Skin Fitness Program can help calm and soothe inflammation while strengthening your skin’s barrier. By targeting redness, irritation, and overall sensitivity, we help you achieve a clearer, more even skin tone without the worry of flare-ups.

Our Rejuvenation Programs require no downtime so you can take your glow on-the-go!

Rejuvenation Program Series Options

Includes a combination of:

  • Medical facial peels (deep pore cleansing, superficial chemical peel, dermaplaning)
  • Diamond Glow microdermabrasion (deep pore cleansing, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning)

Corrective Program: Anti-Aging for A Timeless Glow

As we age, our skin loses its natural ability to repair itself, and fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear. But that doesn’t mean we have to settle for less-than-firm, lackluster skin. The Corrective Skin Fitness Program is ideal for those who want to address signs of aging with a more aggressive approach. This program uses treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, laser resurfacing, designed to stimulate collagen production, reduce wrinkles, and restore elasticity—without the need for invasive procedures.
Our Corrective Program often requires a few mild recovery days to unlock the youthful, glowing skin you desire.

Corrective Program Series Options:

includes one of the following:

    • BBL-Moxi (broadband light with Moxi laser resurfacing)
    • Microneedling with platelet rich plasma (PRP) and Sculptra
    • Cosmelan Chemical Peel

And two of the following:

      • Medical facial peel
      • Diamond Glow
      • Microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid

Your individualized selection of services is determined by our physicians.

The Benefits of Regular, Consistent Treatment

So, what makes a Skin Fitness Program different from the occasional facial or laser treatment? The key lies in consistency. Regular treatments allow your skin to gradually transform and heal, with each session building upon the previous one. Think of it as a series of targeted workouts that strengthen your skin over time. These programs are an option for patients who wish to commit their skin to a long-term treatment plan. As you progress through the program, you’ll notice:

        • Visible Improvement: From smoother texture to a more even skin tone, you’ll see noticeable changes in your skin’s health.
        • Long-Term Results: By committing to regular treatments, you’re setting your skin up for long-term success. Preventative care is key to keeping your skin in its best shape for years to come.
        • No Downtime, Just Glowing Skin: Many of the treatments in the program, such as our Diamond Glow

What’s Included in the Skin Fitness Program?

The Skin Fitness Program is designed to offer a variety of treatments to suit your skin’s needs. Here’s a closer look at the services offered in the 3 programs. Our physicians customize your program and select which treatments are appropriate to reach your goals.

        • Acne Facial Peels: Deep pore cleansing combined with superficial chemical peels, broadband light and extractions clear clogged pores, helping reduce breakouts and promote clearer skin.
        • Medical Facial Peels: These superficial peels exfoliate and brighten the skin, leaving it looking fresh and rejuvenated with no down time.
        • Diamond Glow Microdermabrasion with Dermalinfusion: This treatment exfoliates the skin and infuses it with nourishing serums, giving your skin a fresh glow.
        • Chemical Peels: These more aggressive peels help renew your skin’s surface, targeting pigmentation, fine lines, and overall texture.
        • Microneedling with Hyaluronic acid, PRP or Sculptra: By creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, microneedling stimulates collagen production. When combined with hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or Sculptra, the treatment’s regenerative effects are enhanced, offering firmer, more youthful skin.
        • Broad Band Light (BBL): A non-invasive light treatment that tackles pigmentation, redness, and sun damage. Also referred to as intense pulsed light or photofacial.
        • Nonablative Fractional Resurfacing- Moxi: A cutting-edge laser treatment that helps improve skin texture and reduce the signs of aging with minimal recovery time.

Take Your Glow To Go – Mountain Dermatology’s DIY Facial

Giving yourself a facial at home or while you are traveling is a great way to relax and treat your skin. We offer dermatological-grade, science-backed products to support our patients’ skin care journey. Depending on the course of Skin Fitness treatments prescribed, here is a simple step-by-step guide you can follow:

1. Cleanse your skin

        • Start with a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type. This helps remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Use lukewarm water to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils. Cleanse for about 60 seconds to ensure your skin is thoroughly cleaned.

2. Exfoliate

        • Apply a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin cells. You can choose a chemical exfoliant (like AHA or BHA) or a physical exfoliant (like a scrub). Be gentle—avoid scrubbing too harshly to prevent irritation.

3. Steam your face

        • To open up your pores, create steam by placing your face over a bowl of hot water (not boiling). Cover your head with a towel to trap the steam, and stay there for 5-10 minutes. You can also use a facial steamer if you have one.

4. Apply a mask

        • Choose a mask based on your skin’s needs
        • Clay masks for oily or acne-prone skin
        • Hydrating masks for dry skin
        • Brightening masks for dull or uneven skin
        • Calming masks for sensitive skin

Apply the mask evenly and leave it on for the recommended time

5. Serum

        • Apply a serum that targets your skin concerns. Serums are highly concentrated and can address issues like fine lines, pigmentation, or dehydration. Choose one with antioxidants or hyaluronic acid for a hydrating boost.

6. Moisturize

        • After the serum, apply a good moisturizer to lock in hydration. Choose one based on your skin type—lightweight for oily skin, richer for dry skin.
        • To further enhance your facial, you can incorporate a gentle massage using your fingers as you moisturize your skin. This can help with lymphatic drainage and promote relaxation.

7. Eye cream

        • If you have an eye cream, gently tap it around your eye area with your ring finger, which applies the least pressure.

8. SPF (Morning)

        • If you’re doing this in the morning, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to protect your skin from UV damage, even if you’re staying indoors.

By following these steps, you can give yourself the treat of a rejuvenating facial to optimize your glow between treatments.
